A servlet can generate a HTML code into a java class, or do nothing to an html but processing another operations. A JSP its main work, is to generate html code more easy than a servlet.

The basic difference is in the usage, you can write java codes with html tags using the scripplets in jsp,but as far servlets is concrned
you have to write the html codes inside java classes.
