It all depends on how versatile of a device you want to own. An iPod is somewhat limited in it's performance capabilities compared to the Sony PSP. Though it may have massive music capacity, it does not play UMD discs, which is the media device of choice for the PSP. Most if not all of new movies now come out on DVD AND UMD, so that you can watch movies anywhere. The PSP also holds MP3 songs on it's drive (and optional memory cards), and plays PSP games, which of course the iPod does not.

In addition, the PSP's screen is much larger and clearer. If you're not into portable gaming and just want it for music the iPod is the way to go. But if you want versatility and deapth to your portable devices, the PSP rules hands down.

It really depends on you. i personally have both but instead of an ipod (which everyone and there mommas have) i have a creative zen m which is still a MP3 player.
If you have a lot of music you want to have at your disposal, go with the ipod. You can get an ipod video with 30Gb hard drive for around $260 which can store 75 hours of video, 25,000 still photos or 500 hours of music. The psp also cost about $250 but if you want it to hold music or videos you need to buy a memory stick pro duo. I think the max the memory stick pro duo available is 4Gb which can add cost of a little over $100 which can hold about 1/7th of what the ipod can hold. And if your not really into games, then the psp would be a rather bulky mp3 player if music is mostly what your into.

A PSP is a multifeatured handheld, it can play and watch UMD video games and DVD's, also can play music, video and images, but is limited by the Sony MemorySticks or SD cards, with limited sizes, I think the max for a PSP is 10 GB, which has to be shared with game save, pics and music. Wheras the iPods come in larger sizes (up to the mind blowing recent 80 GB model), they now have adapted i
Pod Game, and can watch Video and share pics. There are a lot of utilities out there that let you put an videos on your iPod, and even a Linux Distro for them.
