what is your malfunction? the side effects some of these meds have are horrendous.
try insomnia, profuse (and i mean buckets) sweating, TOTAL LOSS OF LIBIDO, nausea, diarhhea, constipation, numbness in extremities, weight loss, weight gain, hot flashes, chills, loss of sense of taste and sometimes the depression even gets worse as a result of the meds.
some of the drugs don't really show their bad side till you try to stop taking them. google "effexor withdrawal" einstein.

There are many classes of antidepressants. One is SSRI selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which keeps the little bubbles of serotonin hanging around and for those lacking, it keeps them in an even mood. There are tricyclates, and some people take them if they have a condition or disorder not at all related to depression, but which keep them from being able to function, such as someone with Epstien Barr virus that would make them tired and unable to function during the day. The tricyclate helps them to keep an even mood and function better than they would. Then there are other drugs for depression (MOAI's) I would RUN from!!! But another drug I know of called Neurontin is used for depression, helps, but its for other conditons, namely marketed for anti seizure. So I wouldnt take any med not necessary, as any med, OTC or not, taxes the liver or kidneys. But if needed, take it, it makes life better. AS for a guy taking "the pill" or a woman taking a pill strictly for a man (maybe viagra?) these pills could not possibly have absolutely no consequences for the person. Hope that helps. Just a _slightly_ informed opinion here.

Depending on the antidepressant, you can get a bit hiper. If it works well on you, you can become less prone to get depressd but, if it doesn't, it can even make you depressed.
You will get some of the side effects of them too
