Here is a description of a panic attack that I found in Wikipedia. I know a bit about them, however, I have never heard of the term "delusional" being associated with them. Click on link to read more.

A panic attack is a period of intense fear or psychological distress, typically of abrupt onset. Symptoms may include trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, sweating, nausea, dizziness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), and sensations of choking or smothering. Repeated and apparently unprovoked panic attacks may be a sign of panic disorder, but panic attacks are associated with other anxiety disorders as well. For example, people who suffer from phobias may experience panic attacks upon exposure to certain triggers.

The delusional feeling comes when your oxygen level in your blood is too high from the rapid breathing. That's why the recommended treatment is breathing into a small brown bag. This causes you to inhale your own carbon dioxide from your exhalations, therefore lowering the high oxygen level and easing the symptoms from the anxiety attack. Perhaps you have not experienced severe hyperventilation, and have been able to calm yourself down naturally or with medicines. That would explain why you have not had the symptoms of being delusional.

I don't feel delusional. I feel trapped. It is the old "flight or fight" feeling in the pit of my stomach. I feel like I just need to run...I just don't know why or where. Sound like what you feel? Also, mine started during menopause. I never experienced a hot flash, just panic attacks instead.

Delusional means that you are seeing things or feeling things that are false. You think that they are happening but there not.
