I think....maybe, I might have a staph infection from a cut on my toe. Its red/hot, hurts. Maybe Dr. tomorrow, but tonight, will a cold compress increase rate of infection? It makes it feel better, but I don't want to cause anymore problems...

I would say that cold would slow down the infection, heat would only cause germs to grow.

Cold for the first 2 days of an injury is good to decrease swelling and then heat o promote healing. With an infection start with heat and elevation of the injured foot. Aspirin should help as well.

If it is swollen, put a cold compress, if it is hot take something for fever until you see the doctor in the morning.

no its not likely to hurt anything. thats why you put food in the fridge- the cold slows down bacterial growth. id see the doc tomorrow though
