Haarooon Al Rashid....
Islam doesnt not disagree with science u know? Islam gives sense to science and knowledge...if u were a real muslim u must remember that Quran says that we have to use our intelects and even question our feith (in order to make it stronger)
But I do believe islam takes a lot of commitment and it doesnt have to do with science...islam is not for everyone: I know.
I was catholic, got scientific education in University and give it up coz catholicism has a lot of trouble accepting science, so this this is why I embraced islam and no I dont see any conflict at all...
Now I am doing a masters and I dont mind keep on studying world subjects while studying islam at the same time...
U take care...

I feel very sorry you left Islam the best religion as I know. You studied philosophy and theory of evolution in a university what is your finding so you change your mind on Islam? What is the proof that we were descended from apes ?I think you as a muslim has no strong faith and have not yet studied well the contents of Al Qur'an and Hadith.Do you know the fact that until now the are many apes which still apes. They did not become humans.Allah created apes and orher creatures in this earth .Humans themselves had evolution from time to time.If you read the book of the history of prophets,God created Adam and Eve and their children were in the physical form very big and tall and their ages were very long more than 500 up to 1000 years..We can see how long are their tombs in Palestine and other part of the world..But now people in general are only between 1 and half metre up to 2 and half metre and their average of life is only between 50 up to 125 years old. That is an evolution too.But humans are still humans and apes are still apes with evolutin in their physical form and their ages.It should be a study also of the humans'evolution. from Adam up to now..Philosophy is a science which study the truth but I think you have the wrong conclusion.I hope God will open your heart and go back to Islam.May God bless you.

Well sometimes God has a away of leading us from one erroneous thought into the light. I however do not believe your thesis that philosophy lead you to believe in evolution, for if anything the philosophy gave you an insight to those thoughts deeper than the material concepts of man, which I believe could make you step back from Islam or Christianity for that manner. The the evolution factor, does not equate.
Sometimes when we have a shift in our thinking we go the complete opposite, and that is OK, especially if it will be a correction in our thought in the future. For now your path takes you to a world with material answers to your question of life and mankind.
That would be the science or secular part....evolution.
However philosophy might lead you away from religion as doctrine but I would debate that it would simply lead you to a believe that man started as an amoeba in the ocean...for even if for a moment I would accept that...........then I ask, what brought the single cell into energy form and thus this far to humans. Anyway you look at science, physical, logic, or whatever, there is a question they cannot answer for us...what was the sources of the first energy, the thought.
There is no blame in you pathway, for it is your course upon which you must travel, and we all have our own, one way or another we all will find our way....

well although i am glad that u stood up for what u want. afterall, Islam isnt just for everyone -- it is for those who want it whole heartedly and those whom God wants.
At-Takwir | 29 verses | The Overthrowing
Sura #81 | Makkah
28 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight.
29 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation.
but i will disagree with u. i am a Junior Research Scientist/ Faculty working at an MNC, doing my Phd. alongside in Life Sciences. i am in Genetic Engg, branch but also take classes for Immunology. but i am sure that u will be shocked to hear that i am a muslim. it was Islam that made me think and be rational. i practise my religion at home and place of worship not at my workplace. i feel that people need to draw a thin line between their faith and their careers.
and as u say that u have studied evolution, u will agree that not all theories and hypothesis that are presented are one and the same. Ideas always clash and no one in this world knows anything much more. although religion is a personal beleif, there are no strong convicitions to evolution. and u must be knowing that since u have done classes on evolution.
what we see is what we think we know. what we see is what we think exists. but there is more for us to know. just because we cant see, it doesnt mean that the Unseen isnt there. also if we dont beleive in something, doesnt mean we disrespect it. if people say that religions ask people to be disrespectful, then i am sure u will agree that even those without any religion also tend to be disrespectful.

Brother. I am a Muslim who is unsure of creation against evolution, I have tried to reconcile this but to no avail, but all the way through my belief in Allah as my God has not been shaken. I think your reason for leaving Islam has little or nothing to do with it you just stopped saying hi to you God, and then you thought you did not believe. How do we know that creation is still not going on and the 7 days were just a way of helping people understand when they had little or no education. Start to pray again and see how you feel. And may the Peace of God be with you.

Well I certainly don't think blame is appropriate! But you might want to consider a more metaphorical evaluation of religion. There are progressive groups to almost every religion in the world. They take fully into consideration, modern science and modern World View. Religion is intended to help us learn how to live, how to have compassion, how to have purpose. If you have always based your value and purpose on a fundamentalist view of your religion, then I am sorry for the confusion or anguish or disillusion you must feel. But consider that there is still value in life even the modern life -- even in the scientific era, through the consideration of love, mercy, compassion, kindness, goodness in one another and that metaphor is one way to explore that.

It's so sad that you've thrown your after-life away because of scientific explanations. Sure, there are "theories" of evolutions, but you can't replace faith with scientific teachings. Maybe, as a Muslim, you didn't know that. Or maybe you did and just weren't meant to be a Muslim. Allah's got something planned for you.

You never studied the Holy Quran. If you did, you would have known the great relationship between Quran and Science. If you are really interested to learn, then research. You can ask me for help.

God forbid you take another course...what's gonna happen next, maybe you'll go back to religion? And then maybe another course and then back again?!?What does strong belief have anything to do with all kinds of crap you read? This shows that you weren't really into it from the begginning.
