It depends, I guess.
If you're not interested in eating at that restaurant anymore, then you probably shouldn't do anything.
If you have an interest in that the restaurant do well, for example because it's a local place or you know the owner, then call and let the manager know that the food wasn't very good. It's not complaining, it's more like helping the management make improvements to their service. If they know their job, they'll bend over backwards to give you a reason to come back.

I would not call and never go back again. This has actually happened to me, I ordered food at a Chinese restaurant and when I got home i was very disappointed that the food contained frozen peas and carrots (the carrots were tiny squares) that is how I knew they were frozen. Well, I went into the restaurant with the food and politely asked if they could replace my order with something different because i did not like frozen vegetables and it was not what I had expected. The man cursed me in English and Chinese and threatened to call the sheriffs office on me. I was very stunned. I simply left and told him he could keep the food and my money. i would never return to his restaurant again. This is a true story. I guess he was insulted, however, so was I. I expected fresh vegetables in my stir fry.

Even though it may be an inconvenience to you, I would pack up the leftover food, get in my car, and go back to where you ordered it.
You need to deal with them face to face. The phone thing just doesn't work. Once they hang up, their probably saying.. Ohhhhhhh welllllllllllllll....
One on one contact with the Manager will give you your best results.
Explain that it was your first time, the food was very disappointing, and request a phone number to Corporate.
"NO" Manager ever likes to hear those words, so I'm sure he'll compensate you in any way possible.
Just remember that you get more results with professional actions rather than being abrupt and loud..........
Then perhaps they will give you a gift certificate or coupons so that you can patronize them again...

C. Not call and never go back. That is if the food was bad. Now if the service was horrible as well, I would tell the manager and then never go back. Especially if his attitude sucked too.

b- because if you don't let them know that there is a problem they can't fix it! I would try it one more time a few months down the road and if it was not any better, I would never go back!

Either a or b. If they don't know what was wrong, then they cannot fix it.
Besides, the manager at the local Taco Bell gave me a coupon for a free burrito last time that I whined.
