Quit eating fast food. Stop drinking sodas (only drink diet). Stop snaking on whatever you want. Drink lots of water. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Go for walks. I am a fatty who has put all of these steps into practice and it has not helped me much. The body has a way of fighting back when it is not getting the food it thinks it should be getting. The important thing to remember is to keep trying and never give up. Try to think of incentives to lose weight--for example, try to think of all of the dates you will go on if you're slim and sexy looking. Good luck!

At your age it is normal to gain a little wight. Watch what you eat. You can eat 5 meals a day. Breakfast, snack, Lunch snack, dinner. Do not eat after 7:00. Your snacks should be light and healthy and your meals should not be greasy. If you have never exercised in your life you can start out with low impact aerobics for 30 minutes a day for 6 days a week, rest on day 7. I know this sounds extreme but it will jump start your weight loss. If 6 days a week exercise is too much just do 4 days and work up to 6

get as much activity as you can. it doesn't have to be 'exercise'. make it something fun. hiking, basketball or volleyball. ride your bike or go for walks with friends.

as far as diets go, don't. the last thing you need is to start a vicious yo-yo diet cycle. just eat sensibly and get as many fruits and veggies as you can. read about portion sizes. it is a good thing to know when you are young so you can form good eating habits. if you eat sensibly all week, you can go out for pizza or french fries on the weekend and it won't hurt you.

also don't fall into the guilt trap. don't think because you ate a huge piece of cake that you did something wrong. guilt is a very negative damaging emotion.

remember everything in moderation and you will achieve balance!

Work out, and do isometric exercises. it will elongate your muscle, and make you look leaner. Many people believe that working out and building muscle mass means that you will bulk up, but such is not always the case. If you asked a trainer, they would be able to show you which exercises to practice. This being said, you are too young to worry about this as you are losing your "baby fat", and you need to take it as it comes for now. If you are big boned, you won't be able to just make those bones disappear. How about asking your PE teacher about which exercises would be best for you?

Thirteen is a perfect time to create a long-term lifestyle. This includes eating right, exercising regularly and generally creating a healthy environment mentally, emotionally and physically for yourself.

Don't start with dieting as a quick fix as it ruins your body's metabolism and can make you fatter in the long run as your body attempts to store fat for future starvation times.

My slogan is everything in moderation (including moderation) and it works for me.

You should exercise and avoid junk food such as pizza, fast food in general, fried things, sweetened milk etc.
Exercise at least 30 minutes, 3 times at week. Drink lot of water and avoid cokes and all that beverages. And specially eat healthy.

Your body at puberty is undergoing unexpected changes. Fat is going to redistribute itself in new areas like breasts, hips and buttocks. Please do not try to fight this. Wait it out and see what happens naturally and then see if you need to diet. It takes a while for us to get used to the curves that nature throws us.
