We don't know what version Word you are using.
I am currently in Office97. I see no option to print to PDF.

So far as I know, the Adobe Reader is free. This allows us to "read" PDF files. To convert a Word document to PDF I think the PDF Converter Ver. 4 (just released) will convert for you. It is not too expensive it you do a lot of this type work.

The link below offers a free PDF. Personally, I don't believe anything is "free" but don't know what the catch is here.

There are a couple of ways. You can purchase Acrobat, which is Adobe's system for producing PDFs. It's fairly expensive.

Alternatively, you can download openoffice.org, open your word document in it, and save it as a pdf.

Additionaly, you can use PDFCreator (Available free on sourceforge - google "PDFCreator") or CutePDF. I suggest you try googling (or yahooing!) "free windows pdf printer". I found several free solutions that way in a few seconds.

Or, you can switch to Mac OS X. :D

you don't need any PDF software.
just do everything fom Microsoft Word.
go to "print"
there you will see the print window open up and on the bottom left corner you will see a button: "save as pdf"
click it and another window will pop up, and remember to add the suffix ".pdf" to the end of your file name.
