cramps in the sides of your stomach? or in your legs? don't eat anything with a lot of fat such as hamburgers the day of your games. hydrate very well at least 2 hours before and during the game but don't over hydrate or you'll cramp. make sure you are getting plenty of potassium and a balanced meal.

Dehydration, and/or depletion of minerals, or over-used muscles,or lack of a good warm-up could be the cause. See a doctor, he may prescribe potassium, or magnesium, or calcium suplements for you. Meanwhile, make sure you are hydrated, drink water before, during, and after the game. The following may be a little gross, but a good thing to do. Look at your urine after a game, if it is obviously yellow, or if you do not have to go for a couple/several hours after a game, or there isn't a lot of urine, you are dehydrated. Drink. Urine should have almost no color to it.
The sports drink question is still out there, should we drink a mineral containing sports drink, or drink half water half sports drink, or just water? Ask your doctor what is right for you. And consult him/her before you try any supplements. People with kidney function problems can have serious, life threatening problems with mineral supplements, and we do not necessarily know we have a kidney problem, until we have @ less than 30% of that funtion left there is often no symptoms until we lose that amount of function..
And be sure to do a really good warm-up before the game, that might help.

Be sure you're drinking plenty of water, for one thing. Sports drinks that contain electrolytes are especially good for making sure you absorb the water, too, in a way your body can use it. Try Gatorade (if you're American) or something like that. Check to see that it has the electrolytes. Children's rehydration drinks like Pedialyte also have them, but a Gatorade bottle looks a lot cooler.

Also, warm up properly before the game. Walk or run some laps at a gentle pace. Do some stretches. Be sure your shoes fit well. Ill-fitting shoes can cause you to walk or stand in unnatural ways that could help cause the cramps. You may need to get some better insoles to put into your shoes. They look a bit odd, some of them, but who's going to look inside your shoes?

Eat a banana before the game and at the half. The potassium in the banana will help prevent cramps. Also, stay hydrated.

Stretch before and after the game, take a lot of liquids like Gatorade and a lot of training days before the game.
