For the first time in my life, someone threw me a surprise birthday party. I missed it. I was available but nobody lead me there.

I have been depressed and near crying every day since it happened. I should be over it by now, but it still hurts.

What? why wouldn't someone lead you to it? that's usually how it works. Well, I would be upset just like you. It's always those little missed opprotunities that hurt the most, unfortunatly only time will help you get over it. eventually you will.

A birthday is just another day. Most people even work or go to school on their birthday and do not have the day off to celebrate. My best friend's birthday was yesterday but he came down sick with the flu so could not come over for pizza and so forth. Your friends will make it up to you next year with a party twice as good hopefully.

You're kidding, right? Someone threw you a surprise party and kept it such a secret that you weren't even there? I don't mean to be insensitive, but that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. It's the perfect sit-com story. You could write the script and make a bundle of cash, throw your own party and forget to invite everyone. (mmm... just think of all the cake and beer!!!)

Seriously though, maybe it's time for you to consider who your friends are, and maybe do some clear-cutting so the new growth can spring forth.
Or, maybe, you just need to throw your own party. Maybe make everyone wear those feathery Zoro masks to establish their anonymity, whilst you wear a tiara or something (sans mask, of course).

Regardless, cheer up. It could be worse... I managed to forget my OWN b-day three years in a row. Talk about letting yourself down ;P

It must have been poorly planned if no one took the time to make sure you would be there for the party.
Of course it hurts, but you are going to have to get over it. It's not doing you any good to worry now. Let's hope that the next time someone is going to surprise you that they aren't the ones that are surprised when you know what is going on.

maybe this will make you feel better, first of all i think you feel like you didnt have a birthday cuz you didnt get to celebrate it,maybe you might be depressed and this was just the icing on the cake, the finally straw of things that have happend to you. also my husband forgot my birthday we had been married only i month it was my 30th i thought he had planned a suprize boy was i suprized noooooo birthday. i felt ok now were married its over it took me 4 years to get over that one. what go me through was things that matter more than a birthday like not being on the sept 11 plans or the towers realizing it could be alot worse. anyway.happy birthday !!!!!!!!!!

How can it be that you missed it? If this is so, that I think that person is not sincere.. if he were, he would have led you there, wouldn't he?

I think you should clarify this with him. Ask him if he were sincere about it in the first place..If he can't give you a good answer, I think you should just forget about him and about it... pretend it never happened.
