Hey come on! Let me answer your second question first...
what makes someone photogenic? - It's the 'POPULARITY', you try.., name any one of the popular figure around the globe who is 'un'-photogenic??! It's pretty tuff... You may say 'Bush', has got the crappiest face in Human race, but every photo of him were readed normal! If you think the colour, bone structure would affect your photograph, think of Kofi Anan! You can't think of a bad photograph of him. It's just because you know him. He's know all over the world! He's popular! He's made his physical identities so popular. That makes you think (& accept), he was born photogenic.

So, everyone are photogenic, it's effort of a photographer to take out the distinguished identity of the subject into the frame. You have options in all factors like Lighting, angle, focus, depth, framing, exposure, tone and what on earth is limited to a photographer??!! After all every Human is unique and has some marked feature for themselves. A photographer's job is to search and find the best out of the subject!!

I think some people are more photogenic than others because they have bone structures that seem to enhance itself in the pictures.
That is why fashion industries look for models with nice jawlines or nice cheekbones, etc, etc. They will stand out in photo.
That doesn't mean that a person who isn't photogenic isn't pretty.

You know what's scary?...
Someone told me...that the way a person looks at themselves in the mirror, isn't how they actually look...That they look the way they do in pictures...But...I don't think it's true...

But yeaah...I think that some people look better under different lights, and camera flashes perhaps don't capture a person's bone structure....as well as other peoples...

Also, skin has a lot to do with it...For example, I broke my nose...and I've gotten a few reconstructive surgeries, and my scars aren't visible...but my nose is slightly inker than my face, and plus I have darkish circles around my eyes...and in camera's...that comes out really baad...
But, this lady told me...that with a little bit of concealer and bronzer...I will come out good in pictures...and effectively...I do. LOL
I guess the way light bounces on skin can contribute to creating shadows in pictures and stuff...
And I guess some people look bad in still shots as well...and at certain angles...and I guess some people have dorky smilkes...o.o

I honestly and fairly have self belief even an "ok-searching" man or woman can freshen up suited with the right lights and a good digicam. i will't extremely answer this with extremely some technical images jargon (i recognize what Ryan's getting at) yet in my adventure at the same time as human beings look undesirable in pictures it really is not any longer because "they are gruesome" the image only wasn't taken contained in the right putting, or they wore outfits that were one length too large or unflattering. And if it really is taken at an unlucky time (yawning, dozing or pulling a peculiar face) properly that takes position to the better human beings. Yeah and at the same time as human beings say that contours and shadowing make a large difference, it really is authentic. there is particular angles that'll make you skinnier, even the most appealing human beings are liable to taking unattractive pictures using incorrect attitude. only attempt to work out which pictures you imagine you look good in and reflect it or attempt diverse issues. For me, I not in any respect smile with my teeth i do not recognize why I only imagine i look unusual, and at the same time as i'm giggling in pictures i'm overlaying my mouth. also, extremely some the cases I stand aspect recommendations or not in any respect completely confronted on the digicam. diverse issues artwork for diverse human beings. :)

There is a theory that the beauty of a person can be measured by porportion an the number 1.618. Certain features of a person's face/body is exactly 1.618 times the measurment of another part. It is said if a person is exactly proportionate that he is perfectly beautiful. The closer your proportion to this number the more beautiful you are. This measurement is also seen in many plants/flowers in nature too leading many scientists to believe that there is a link.

This is illustrated in the work of Da Vinci in the "Vitruvian Man".

It all depends on if the person can convey an emotion when taking a picture. Some people are shy and tend to look mean and un-interested. It never hurts to take your own pics. I did this and have improved immensely:)

I guess it's the way some people smile and use their facial expressions, some people can look relaxed without even trying and some can have that strained look.
