Allergic to shellfish (tummy ache), bananas (tummy ache), and avocadoes (itchy throat). Allergic to latex? Will I become allergic to latex?

You may become allergic to latex. You may have a sensitivity to latex at this point and if that is the case it can get worse with exposure. I started with an mild allergy to bananas and avocados. I also started reacting to band-aids that had latex in them. I have become more sensitive to latex over the past few years and now have made a point of avoiding it whenever possible. I have had my hands get itchy after exposure to latex gloves. The thing to remember is that you do not want to wait until you have a severe allergy to latex before you start avoiding it.

Latex is in the same category as avocado and banana. I don't remember the reasoning. If you are allergic to banana and avocado I would be vey careful with latex so that you do not develop an allergy to it.

My 1 yr old is allergic to bananas. Because of this we have not introduce avocado and watch his latex exposure. Bandaids will occasionally make him breakout.

I have severe allergies myself, especiallt to avacados. Though avacados and latex come from different trees, the trees they come from have similiar proteins and neutirients which cause the allergy. I have not yet suffered any problems from latex, however, your allergys can change with age. Always let doctors know that this is a concern. They have other gloves that they can use. Also, be extra careful with avacados. People like myself that are really allergic to them can go into anaphlaxis arrest. If you ever experience chest pains almost like heart burn but worse, then dont eat them. It is dangerous.

Put on a pair of latex hospital gloves & wear them for a few minutes. That will tell you if you are. I saw lots of people figure out the hard way by doing this! Your hands will get all red & itchy, if left on for too long, they's break out in a rash.

No. If you have ever touched a balloon and you didn't break out in a rash...you are not allergic to latex.
