WOW... what a jerk ..
I know a tailor and he is an absolute doll!
you should call your wedding planner and see what she can do!!!
Make sure your dress can be pressed ..not all wedding dresses can be pressed they need steaming.I know because I work w/ wedding dresses all day long !
Good luck to you and your soon to be husband!

I've had a VERY similar problem with a tailor in the past! It seems they will try to screw you in any way possible.
They should (usually) not press the dress, but they should have steamed it. Also, if it looks dirty, you have a definite problem. Do you have any pictures of the pre-alteration dress? How about records of all the issues you've been having (reciepts, promised dates and work done, etc.)? You need to go back to them and say, "Listen, buddy, I have been having problem with your seamstresses for a VERY long time. Now, I just received my dress and it is dirty, unsteamed, and the garment bag is ripped. You are going to fix this right now, free of charge, and I am going to wait here while you do it. Your other option is to pay for my dry cleaning bill." If they refuse, threaten to report them to the Better Business Bureau and/or the office that controls the shopping center they are in, if it exists.
It is sometimes possible to steam it yourself. Google for instructions.
Good luck!

totally get your wedding planner in on it. A good seemstress would have the dress cleaned and pressed after its finished. Its just more professional. Its a shame that happened to you. Don't worry though it could be worse. My friend is getting married in a week and the seemstress had her dress for alterations for 3 months now and hasn't started it yet!

Congrats on getting married!!
I would DEFINATELY ask your wedding planner to step in & help out. The dress should NOT be dirty or look wrinkled. I'd ask for a discount on the alterations too. This place took advantage of you & I'll bet that they've done it to other customers. Be nice about it at first, then go from there. I wouldn't put up with their shoddy work for one second!

Your dress should come back from the tailor ready to wear. If the wedding planner can't get you any satisfaction, I will be happy to contact the tailor for you. If that dosen't work, People's Court is waiting.

They should have been more carefull and yes they should have pressed the seams during the alteration. Do you have a lot of time though to hash it out? I would find a good dry cleaner, one who specializes in this sort of garment, and have it taken care of.
Best wishes

when they press it after alterations it helps the alterations to stick better and if there are beads or sequens on it it helps them t stay on the dress and make you look great in the dress...
