My kitten does the same thing and she is 7 months old.

She doesn't like any wet food or cooked chicken or fish.

She does eat bugs and flies. She is an indoor cat and I have only had her for 5 weeks from the humane society, so I don't know if she was like before that.

I don't have an answer for you, but would love to read what others say.

Don't worry about it. Fleas can cause tape worms because they suck the blood of infected animals, ingesting tapeworm eggs that transfer to the kitten. Flies don't suck blood therefore no tapeworm eggs and no risk to kitten. Roundworm and pin worm are caused by contact with infected cat feces. Catching and eating bugs is just play for kitty, don't interfere.

We have had several cats over the years and many have chased and eaten flies and spiders with no ill effects. It is natural for them and extra protein. I suggest worming your kitten ONLY if you acquired her from a farm. Kittens can get worms from their mother even before they are born on a farm. We have acquired all our household cats from my sister on the farm and dosed them with cat wormer once or twice and that should take care of it as long as they remain indoor cats. Otherwise enjoy the pest control kitten. We have one neutered male that loves flies and another who loves spiders. And if he sees a spider on the wall and can't reach it he will meow at the top of his lungs until you get it down for him!

No, this is her instinct to catch insects. In fact, domestic (house) cats kill more different species than any other feline in the animal kingdom! Over 3,000 different species! I always loved having cats around because there's no bugs, mice, spiders, or any other icky things! Let her get them!

I had a cat that ate moths or millers as we call them...crunchy but not harmful.
