Stay away from all of the canned this and packaged that, it's all loaded with salt.
Eat 6 times a day, small meals with fruit and veggies for snacks. Broil or grill all of your meats and try to stick to Turkey, Chicken and fish. Apples are a great source of fiber and are a great snack for filling you up. Drink 8+ glasses of water daily and don't eat after 7 at night. Get a can of Morton Lite Salt and start using it, or stay away from salt altogether, it makes a huge difference.
Here's a favorite of mine that I got from LA Weight Loss, and the whole family enjoys it:
Turkey Chili
1lb ground turkey
2 cups water
6 plum tomatoes
5 scallions (green onions)
1 garlic clove
1/2 T Chili powder
1/2 t cumin
1/2 t paprika
1/2 t Morton Lite salt (LA USES ONLY THIS FOR SALT)
1/2 t pepper
Brown the turkey and then add the water. Finely chop tomatoes, green onions and garlic. Mix in spices and add all to meat and water mix.
Simmer on medium heat for about 45 minutes.
Makes 3 servings (so they are large) and here's the best part
211 calories
37 grams of protein
11 carbs
2.7 grams of fat
313 mg sodium
2.9 grams of fiber
An enjoyable snack, or TV watching treat is a berry smoothie made from
4oz skim milk
4 oz plain, fat free yogurt
1/2 cup raspberries
Really fills you up, great for breakfast too.
Good luck with the changes, and Thank your hubby for me.

Cucumber salad
Thinly slice a cucumber, cut a tomato and red pepper into chunks, slice a small amount of red onion or vidalia onion. Mix it in a bowl and add a small amount of greek dressing or red wine vinagrette.
For a full meal have some of this salad with some broiled salmon (throw some lemon juice and dill on it and broil until flaky).

This is a great dessert that you can have when dieting!
Strawberry Soy smoothie
1 cup strawberries (frozen)
¼ cup water
¼ cup soy powder
1 tablespoon fructose
Blend it all up!!
(You can use nonfat dry milk powder instead of the soy, but the soy powder actually makes it taste much richer.)
