Since now even Senator Foley's claiming to have been molested. Think they're thinking they should have done something about those priests when they had the chance?

I never said I was buying his crap. I'm just saying if the Church had dealt with the offending priests when this first happened, they wouldn't be used as scapegoats now.

Definately! This is the perfect example of Karma biting this organization on the @ss! After all the persecution the Church has done to people over the centuries, it's coming back to haunt them!

It's nothing new, The church has been through worse. Let us not forget the Great Schism or the Protestant reformation. My point, it takes a licking' and keeps on tic kin'. I don't know why people think Catholic priests are the only religious peoples to molest boys. Buddhist monks have been doing that forever. Just look at the long narrative history of Japan, tales abound. Truthfully I think there are more pedophiles teaching public school than in the church. But It's just terrible that the church hid these in place of reporting such occurrences to police.

This has been going for so long and I am saddened by all the Catholic bashing that people do. It is not the Catholic church, nor Catholicism, nor Christians in general, but a number of people who by making poor choices have brought the scrutiny, animosity, and ill feelings towards the church as a whole. It is saddening but at the same time, I maintain hope since the Catholic church has endured scandals before and they will do so again and again if needs be. One thing that Jesus taught by His sacrifice is that we can all learn to endure and grow stronger from whatever life throws at us. I pray that those of us who are in any place of authority will be less apt to follow our human spirit and listen more intently to the Holy spirit when we have a choice to make that will have an impact on someone else.

Notice he SAYS he was molested by a CLERGY not a priest and even if it is a priest he SAYS he had a problem with why with everything that has gone on is he just now coming out with this when he is in trouble? All these people who are jumping all over the Mother Church will be very sorry some day.

I'd just like it noted that the priests in question are a minority (not that the situation was handled appropriately) and there's plenty of perverted clergy folk in all denominations, not just the Catholics.
It's an old institution, and it's got some issues....

Definitely their getting a dose of their own medicine.

The Catholic Church better bend over and grit their teeth.

and if they don't like that, to quote Triple H and Shawn Michaels of DX in the WWE:

"THEN I GOT TWO WORDS FOR THEM!!!"

The Church has strayed from the teachings. It strayed about ten minutes after the Romans formed it. This is not what was intended.

He's just trying to deflect the press coverage and get some sympathy.

That line about the clergy is worn out.

All the perverts use it.

Love and blessings don

Looks like everyone is buying into his blame shifting. Atheists are suckers for Catholic stories.
