I am looking for a non-scary scarecrow (huh?) and anything for Thanksgiving.

Here's a great thanksgiving picture you might remember - have your child trace their hand flat down on a paper, with the thumb spread farther than the other fingers. This will look like a turkey's head - the thumb - and feathers.

Your child can color this in, cut this out, fill in the shape with glue and different beans, or glue and glitter.

I would strongly encourage you to not have your child color someone else's drawing. It is much more important for his/her creativity to draw it themselves, maybe with you.

Get a book about pilgrims, indians, religious liberty, turkeys, sailing ships, and have your child and you draw from there, then color as desired.

Another thing you can do is put together a few pieces of paper, binding them with ribbon through holes or staples or careful folding. Label it the gratitude book on the front, or the THANKS A LOT book or what have you, and then on each page, your child can draw something he/she is grateful for. You could alternate pages. You should write a word on each page, or a sentence, describing your child's words.

This will be much better for your child's creativity and ability to think for him/her self than giving them someone else's pictures to color in. That's a pretty passive activity that isn't really good for kids.

I'm an artist and once a teacher asked me to draw a few pictures for the same reasons. I loved doing it and got carried away and did dozens of themes...some of them custom made for that particular teacher. If you know anyone who can draw i bet they would love to do it for you and you can ask them for anything you want!!!
