High blood pressure is anything over 120/80/ Headaches are one sign, dizziness, fatigue, palpation's,shortness of breath etc. The Dr will first take your blood pressure which you should also take on a reg basis if you feel your having problems. EKG is next. easy just sticky probes attached to you takes less than a minute. Possible an xray. Bloodwrk would probably be taken to check for any other problems.
Then if you have high blood pressure usually treated with meds. Stay off the salt and carbs. And exercise often, Cardio wrk out. There are many things that can cause high bp so a physician is actually the only person that can tell you exactly how treatment will be. Good luck

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Your body gets to a point where you feel like your skin is crawling, especially when you lie down to relax and just consentrate on how your body is feeling. If your skin feels like it is crawling then you are definitely having a problem. I actually didn't figure out it was my blood pressure until I went to the doc for what I thought was an ear ache... I was dizzy ... nope it was my blood pressure. I also had headaches too.
The doc will put you on pills if it is bad, otherwise they might tell you to change your diet if they don't want you to go on pills just yet. Salt is bad bad bad for blood pressure... stay away from that.

Severe and chronic headaches and dizziness can also be symptoms of high blood pressure. Crankiness too. However these can also be signs of other pre-diabetic syndromes due to high insulin.
www.hufa.org has a symptoms link that gives a list of symptoms due to hypoglycemia - another of the pre-diabetic syndromes.
The doctor will take your blood pressure and ask you to come back and take it again. Unless yours is exceptionally high, he/she will probably just prescribe medication for you to take for the rest of your life.
You will have to take the medication, unless you research it and are wary of the side effects. Then, if you choose to try to control your BP by diet and exercise, you will have to discuss that with your doctor, and research that as well. I also recommend you ask the doctor to give you a fasting blood insulin test so you know how that hormone is doing.

Headaches, dizziness, nosebleeds, heart palpatations... Go see a Dr. ASAP. High blood pressure can usually be controlled with medication, diet and if you smoke, you should quit. Go see the doctor because high blood pressure can cause strokes, organ failure and a bunch of other problems.

yes, all of the above and the doctor will put you on a blood pressure medication and monitor you and maybe put you on a regimine of exercize for it. If you don't have a monitor of your own most store have on and you can keep track of the numbers yourself, high blood pressure can be very serious but can be taken care of with just diet now days and no medication.
