I have naturally black hair, but got it highlighted a few weeks ago. They are light brown/dark ash brown highlights. I want them to be a really light almost platinum blonde color. Does that seem too drastic? I've seen a lot of girls with black hair and dramatic platinum highligths and it looks great. Would it work if i put in platinum blonde toner?

Sounds kind of like you want it frosted right? I don't know. I've seen people with dark hair and it looks horrible, and i've seen it look great on some. I think you should maybe try a dirty blonde color first. That way you can see a little what the blonde might look like. Then ask you stylist for some advice. Hope I helped!

You can try that, but I would have used Blonde Brillance Highlighting Kit sold at Sally Beauty Supply. Works the best You can do it at home, it's a cap kit and someone can help you do it. You leave it in the 90 minutes on black hair.It will be platinum or close to it. Then you can put a toner in, if you want to. Try the toner for now but try what I suggest next time.

to get lighter highlights you have to leave the highlighter on longer, then possibly you would have to use a toner to get the desired affect. See your hair comes down in stages black to dark brown , to light brown , to aurburn, to red, to dark blonde to ash blonde, to white, i hope you get this

dont try to make it blonder. trust me, people with balck hair and blonde highlights look very fake and horrible. if you have a lighter skin tone, you might wanna go for more of a light brown. black hair looks very good with redish highlights. i dont mean bright red, but auburn looks very natural and it also has some gold shades to it. u might wanna try that. especially if you have an olive skin tone. my sister did that and it looks very nice.
