coca-a-cola and cancer?

i saw on the news that some ingredient called ben (something) has the potential of causing cancer of the blood, which is called leukemia, right? why would they put some a harmful ingredient in their drink?

I'm thinking you are talking about sodium benzoate. I admit I'm not to versed on this ingredient. But I can tell you that soda should be eliminated or at least limited in anyone's diet. It is not good for you by any means.

As for adding a harmful ingredient to their drink..why not? Look at the food companies. Do you eat anything that comes prepackaged? If you do then you are eating poisons, carcinogens and other cancer causing agents on a daily basis. Most prepackaged foods are loaded with hydrogenated oils, MSG and other harmful preservatives. Most cereals are packaged with BHT. Most prepackaged meat (lunch meat, bacon, sausage)contains sodium nitrites. All of these are harmful for the body. The sad thing is that most of those are not necessary at all but the companies use them because they're cheap and, in the case of MSG, add an addictive quality to the food. The person who mentioned aspartame is right on the money. That stuff is dangerous. All artificial sugars are bad for you and yet everyone uses them thinking they're somehow tricking nature by avoiding sugar. Pfft! They are simply poisoing themselves and for what? There is nothing wrong with actual sugar as long as it is consumed in moderation.

Our family steers clear of all of it.

I don't see the point in worrying about sodium benzoate in soda if you happen to be like most of American and eat prepackaged foods on a daily basis.

There is a book called "The Slow Poisoning of America". You should read it.

Coco cola was invented many years ago. pre 1950 they did put the drug coke in the drink.

honey if you're worried about that check on one ingredient called ASPARTAME... it is very dangerous
