I'm a student and English is not my first language. Even I've been in London for a year, my British friend always tell me that my strong native accent is sometimes quite hard to understand. I really want to improve my spoken English, esp. learn the British pronunciation. Please help!

it takes time... marry a native english speaker and in 20 years you'll have hardly any at all... what you need to do is to immerse yourself in the environment... this means taking yourself away from your ethnic group... if you have a lot of or daily contact with your own race of people then you will be slower to pick up British pronunciation and above all else you have to TRY, you need to want to have it...

Try to make sure you do not to use your native tongue for at least a month and explain the reason to your family and friends. If possible communicate as much as possible with native local Londoners and before you know you will be :- 1. Nipping up them APPLES AND PEARS. 2. Drinking lots of ROSEY LEE .3. Making sure you take a good BUTHCHERS before you cross the TOAD and FROG. " Cor blimey I finks you may soon get it !"

Listen to BBC. Watch BBC-TV. Enlarge your circle of friends. Remember that all British accents are not the same due to educational exposure, experience, and geography.
