Recently I wrote a paper, which was to my current knowledge, supposed to be succinct. I wrote the paper a tad poetically with an extended metaphor, etc. and I used "big" words even though I didn't really consider it a big deal until I thought of it on retrospect. Now I think the teacher does not like me, for the paper was 9 pages, as opposed to the typical 3-4 pages, and I feel he may have thought I was trying to pretentious or specious and I am starting to worry he won't like me anymore..

reply to cravey: I'm in high school not college/university, even though this is an AP class, and there were no parameters stating to exceed a particular limit of pages..

Talk to the teacher to establish mutual understanding. The understanding will allow you to understand the motive of the teacher and teaching style, also the teacher will understand your learning style. There are no garruntees.

what were you thinking? the reason the professor doesnt like you is because you didnt stick to the rules. i used to do the same thing. so, my suggestion is to change your habits. think about what argument you can manageably writed within the parameters. i used to always try to write a point that i had a lot of passion about presenting. what ened up happening in my case was.... i wouldnt stick to the direction the papaer was supposed to be written in..... and i would reach into other resources for validation and stretch farther away from the main point....(kinda like what i did with this)

The teacher isn't supposed to like you.
YOU are supposed to like you. There will be many other teachers in the future---but you must write the best you possibly can, to be true to yourself. Don't lose what's special about yourself.
