No. And for all you idiots who think this is a dumb question, it's not. There are a lot of people who believe that since so much oil profit goes into the hands of countries suspected of harboring terrorists and sanctioning terrorism, SUVs that use a lot of fuel are contributing to the problem. I happen to think that is not the case, because there are a lot of vehicles that use more fuel than SUVs, and to single out SUVs is short-sighted. I also don't believe that there is a direct link between oil profits and terrorism, at least not to the extent that the media and the government wants us to believe. And also for all you idiots who think this is a dumb question, there was an ad campaign during WWII that tried to encourage carpooling because the ad said if you ride alone you ride with Hitler.

Personally, I find SUV's to be bad for the environment, and fuel consumption is a major issue for our economy. Possibly funding terrorists is the least of our worries when it comes to driving those things.

Let's face it; when you participate in society--in the economy--you are supporting a system which even bad people benefit from. For example, if you go to Walmart and buy some stuff, one of the workers there could be a child molestor (and nobody knew about it). You're paying money to a company that supports a child molestor, but is that your fault or the company's fault? Of course not!

If you are trading with a foreign country, their society has its own criminals, just like ours does. Criminals there can get wealth channeled over through the US economy, but neither country is to blame for that.

If there is a parasite in your body, you don't really want to stop eating because you are supporting the parasite. It's better to target the parasite all by itself and keep eating.

That's why it's better to fight terrorists directly (through law enforcement) and keep buying gas. If everyone in the US stopped buying gas, you probably could drain enough money from middle eastern economies to make criminals over there poorer and less able, but you'd also be hurting a lot of innocent people at the same time (non-terrorists in those countries who benefit from trade).

Also, if everyone knew that the US were deliberately doing something like that against their country while cooperating with others, they'd hate the US a lot, and then you'd have even more terrorists than you did before!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with economic ties to the middle east; the more our countries cooperate, the better both of our economies can be. If we work together like that and the living conditions in those countries improve, more people will be happy and fewer will want to blow things up. Now that's what I call fighting terrorism.

(Note: There are people who want to blow stuff up in every country, even the US; we've had our fair share of terrorist acts committed by natural born citizens, so I'm not saying anything against the mideast or people there--psychos are everywhere)

I don't think I'm supporting the terrorists.
On the contrary, I'm supporting the US economy.
I don't think we need foreign oil in the US at all.
It's idiotic people like you that will not allow drilling or let oil refineries be built in this country to lessen foreign dependence.
What's all this crap against SUV's?
A train, a subway, a ship, all big things, like electric plants, all have some Arab oil in them, as well.
I have a pickup that gets 17 MPG. It's no different than an SUV. I'm supporting the oil companies, local gas distribution, retailers, gas taxes to the 50 states revenue that collect it, and all oil related products produced by people working here in the US.
If you buy gasoline, an American was responsible for it.
Be glad we have the free will to drive an SUV if we want.
I doubt you feel the same.
If you feel guilty about Arab oil in your car, walk or ride a bike all you want in protest.

Absolutely! We buy oil from the mideast. Various radical factions of Islam eventually get some of the petrodollars from oil sales. They then use the money to attack and kill innocent people in the name of peace, love, and brotherhood.

Even better - some of the earthquake aid we sent to Pakistan last year was funneled to terrorist organizations.

However, I also support free-world government efforts to hunt down and kill the terrorists. I do this through my tax dollars.

Now, if you offer me a deal wherein I don't have to pay taxes if I agree to give up my SUV, I'll probably take you up on it!

It's not a stupid question.

Maybe if more people asked such questions rather than insisting that they are *entitled* to certain things, we might not have as many problems.

We're in Iraq because we don't produce enough oil ourselves. This war in Iraq is increasing the terrorist threat (not my words, but the Intelligence Estimate of our own government). Think.

No, you only support terrorism when you plot sneaky attacks on your friends or enemies, in order to hurt or scare them, when they least expect it...

When killing is involved, the practical-joke has gone too far...

Nope! I'm supporting MY lifestyle. I will live in MY country as I see fit. NOT how some terrorist things I should live; in fear.
