Egypt - Enslaved the children of Israel (Jacob) before the Exodus
Hittites - A great kingdom in Asia Minor. Mentioned ferquently in the Old Testament. They also had a presence in Canaan when Joshua led Israel to Conquer the area.
Assyria- Conquered the Northern Kingdom of Israel around 720 BC
Babylon - Conquered the Southern Kingdom of Judah by 587 BC
Greece - Brought much of their culture to the nation of Judea during the intertestamental period before Christ was born as a result of the conquests of Alexander the Great of Macedon. The New Testament was written in Koine Greek.
Rome - began ruling Judea by 62 BC and destroyed Jerusalem an the Temple in 70 AD
------------------
Others:
Persia conquers Babylon around 538 BC and allows the Jews to return to Judea and reestablish the city of Jerusalem and the Temple.
Left to my own resources, I would name the top 6 above. Persia, of course, was another great ancient near eastern power, but it had less to do with the Bible than the others it seems. Other's could be named, but my gut feeling is that these are some of the most powerful ones mentioned in the Bible.
Hope this helps.
PS: This question just pushed me into level 4 on YA. Whoopee! Well, OK, maybe not all that exciting but I just wanted to share. d:c)

Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and an unidentified future empire. America does not have a major role in the end times unless it is a significant part of the Final Human Empire. It probably will continue to exist as a nation, but it will not have the worldwide influence it has had since the Second World War.

Six major empires mentioned in the Bible? The Bible only mentioned 5 (See Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream: Daniel 2:36-45) The king dreamed of a big statue made of different metals:
The head was made of gold = Babylonian Empire
The chest and arms was made of silver = Medo-Persia
The belly and thigh was made of bronze = Greece
The legs were made of iron = the Roman empire
The feet was made of iron and clay = fractured kingdoms- just as iron do not mix with clay, the countries that formed the previous empires will never be one again until the end of time.
Charlemagne tried to unite it...- he failed
Napoleon (who should have won the battles) failed. It was mentioned in one history books that Napoleon said " God must be against me"
Hitler tried - he also failed. The European community is also trying to do it with the introduction of the Euro dollar (common currency) and also failed to unite it, like it was before.
So the Bible mentioned five (5) NOT six (6)

Five of the six are mentioned in the book of Daniel, begining in chapter two. The first four are Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. The fifth is mentioned in chapter seven and eight, but instead of being a beast it is a horn because it comes from within Rome; it is the Roman Catholic Church. The fifth and sixth world powers are mentioned descriptively in Revelation 13. The sixth power is the USA. Compare the Biblical descriptions with history, and let the Bible explain its own symbols.

First...forget all you have been falsely taught about Revelation 17 being the church at Rome. COMPLETELY DOES NOT ALINE WITH THE BIBLE. Second....understand that Daniel chapter 2 is not historical in it's focus although the empires eventually all did exist. The only empire that had existed when Daniel wrote this was the Babylonian,as is referenced as Daniel is speaking to Nebuchadnezzar. He is the head of gold with Daniel's explanation of the image in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The other empires had not yet been.Daniel 2:44 notice that the stone made without hands that rolls down the mountain and strikes the feet of the image, destroys ALL....ALL the kingdoms of the image at the SAME time. And that this stone will set up His kingdom that will have no end.Verses 32,33. Head=gold...chest/arms=silver...belly/thighs=brass...legs=iron...feet=iron/clay.the head is BABYLON. Chest and arms is Medes/Persians. Belly and thighs is Greece. Legs is Roman. And the feet with 10 toes that will mingle with the seed of man is when you need to apply Revelation 17.Now read verse 44.The kingdom that destroys the image ALL AT THE SAME TIME is Jesus when He returns to set up His kingdom and defeats Satan and his armies for Christ to reign on earth for 1000 years. The feet and ten toes represent an empire that never quite made it in history...but are revived in the LATTER DAYS. The latter days being Jesus return to earth to set up His kingdom. This empire is the Ottoman Empire !!!! And what is the Ottoman Empire??? ISLAM !!!!! The Old Testament prophets almost all speak of this same thing and it is all prophetic.Look at the world today. What is on the flag of almost every Muslim country's flag today. The crescent moon. And remember,God has always been Israel centered. Not America, not Europe, not Rome, not Russian, not China..... it has ALWAYS been Israel centered. And what is the common factor about Israel today? Israel is completely surrounded by Islamic countries that form a geographical crescent around Israel and ALL want Israel wiped off the face of the earth. Why is it the ONLY religion that hate Jews and Christians to slaughter them today is Islam?Buddhist,Hindu,Shinto.....all the other religions in the world and not ONE has such a hatred for God's people as Islam. The image is SOOOOOOOOO near to being destroyed and it is not too late to be on the side that is not a part of the image mentioned by Daniel and the other prophets. You still have time to receive , and I mean truly receive Jesus as your Savior and King. The Ottoman Empire is being revived by Isis being lead by Iran.BETTER WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!

The Egyptians, the Babylonian, the Persian, the Greeks, the Romans. The "future empire" mentioned in Daniel is not in our future - it refers to Alexander's Empire and it's "children" (the Ptolemaic Empire and the Seleucid Empire). For more, see First & Second Maccabees in the so-called Apocrypha. Israel regained it's independence for 70 years in this time period. The beginning of the rebellion (the Maccabean Revolt) is celebrated by the Jewish holiday of Hannukah.
