To me, it sounds like this dog is actually a mix of several different types of malmute. If the types are each recognized as an independent breed, then the dog is not considered a "pure" bred so can't be shown or bred for AKC recognition. Next, if the dog is AKC registered, it is very possible he does not meet breed standards. Only dogs that meet all breed standards can be shown in pedigree shows. Now, you could use the dog for breeding, but you'd be doing so not to further the breed, but to pass on what makes your dog unique. Even if breed with another AKC dog who met breed standards and was ring eligable, you still run a high risk of puppies who can't be shown. If that is ok with you and you can find homes with folks who only want the dogs for pets and do so responsibly, then breed

Because a long and soft coat is a major fault in a malamute - read the standard.

Because it is WRONG to have a coat like that!!! A major fault to the point that it is a disqualification. The dog should be neutered and kept as a pet. That kind of thing should not continue.

I would check the AKC standard for the breed and see if he meets the standard.

LMAO!!!
Because it has a **MAJOR** FAULT???

IF it's even PURE bred/REGISTERED???

*IF* it is an AKC (FULL) registered animal, you MAY enter any AKC show...however...you'll NEVER place & will be spending YOUR money to give POINTS to somebody ELSE!!(who'll be LAUGHING at your POS,btw)
