Push ups and pull ups. They are the best exercises that you can do. Weightlifting will help a lot to.

Here you go:
Dumbell rows: 4 sets of 8 reps
Pulldowns or chin ups: 4 sets of max reps
Barbell curls: 4 sets of 8 reps
Also, for overall strength, you can't beat
Squats 5x5
Deadlifts 5x5
Bench Press 5x5
Google images or Google videos will show you how to do each of these.
Lift 2-4 times a week. try to use 70-85% of the weight that you can lift for one rep.

Lifting heavy objects requires lower back and leg strength. You shouldn't be using your upper body too much for heavy lifting.

best bet is to go the the gym. eat lost of protein to make your muscles stronger. PUSH UPS!!! hope this helps...oh and are you saying that girls are heavy objects. haha J/K

push ups, overhead presses and if you are going to be holding her up in the air, balance has alot to do with it, hold her where the weight will be even on both sides.
