Didn't you hear? The moon landing was faked.
I'm assuming your talking about a mile in the ocean? If so, it's because water pressure is greater than air pressure.

That because with every descent, can cause discomfort as it like being squeeze," and go deep enough it can even crush submarines" an ordinary sub can go as far as 1 1/2- 2 miles down". Every descent to the bottom, the pressure increases by depth of 300 ft. In order to achieve such feets sci-entice/engineers need to come up with solutions, that can solve the pressure difference on sea level.

FIRST WE GET AWAY FROM GRAVITY BY FUEL, ONCE IN SPACE WE ARE GUIDED BY ROTATION UNTIL WE ARE AWAY FRON THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE. THEN THE ROCKET IS GUIDED BY MAN UNTIL IT REACHES THE GRAVITATIONAL PULL OF THE MOON. GOING FURTHER WOULD MEAN MORE TIME AND MORE FUEL. PLUS A SURFACE FOR LANDING. IF THE TEMPERATURE IS RIGHT ON THE PLANET, NO PROBLEM. OTHERWISE WE EITHER FREEZE OR BURN TO DEATH.
SUBMARINES HAVE GONE A MILE DEEP INTO THE SEA. NO FEAR THERE.

isn't nothingness the opposite of somethingness?
space is space because there is nothing there to move through
if you are referring to deep in water, then moving through water and dealing with the weight of it and pressure is a whole different ballgame.
but don't they have submersibles that go that deep?
if you are referring to land, there are lots of mines deeper than 1 mile.
good debate here I guess, cause I'm only guessing I'm not an aeronautics engineer or a naval engineer or any kind of engineer....
