Well, I've got two cats and they usually make aweful noises trying to get the hairballs up. Usually, I'll be walking around the house or something and there will be a little surprise for me to clean up lol. I know my cats have hairballs because they leave them on the floor.

Assume always that your cat will develop hairballs if you just leave it to its own devices. To prevent hairballs brush your cat everyday if its long hair and 3 times a week if its short hair. If your cat shows signs of hairball like coughing, vomiting and constipation, give him any one of the anti-hairball gels or pates that you can but in any pet store or dab a bit of petroleum jelly on its tongue.

Hairballs generally make a cat cough. There are kitty treats that will help with this. My grandmother used to give the cat a teaspoon of cod liver oil in her food and that seemed to work too.

Your cats will vomit to remove the hairballs. You can but hairball remover, you can put some on your cats feet and they will lick it off, or mine just lick it out of the tube. I buy mine from Petsmart, I'm sure any good pet store you have locally will have the product.

Long hair or short hair-all cats can get hairballs.
They make food for this ++ other stuff...to prevent.
A cat whom stops up w/hairballs will die if not gotten to a vet in time. Both their sides would look like-little mounds of knots.

If your cat has hairballs it will cough and choke as if it has an allergy. There is hairball medicine you can buy at the pet store or from your Vet.

It will puke revolting hair balls with some sick, on your carpet, or retch, and convulse, like its going to, often, a whining sound before, at which point, you kick it, and show it the cat door.
