Does anyone know how to remove wall paper and wall paper adhesive from a bathroom wall? Its been there for at least 12 years.

I think you're going to have to get a wallpaper steamer and some scrapers. It's not as bad as it seems.

There are products that you can buy at WalMart in the paint/hardware section or at any hardware store to remove wall paper. I think one of the spray on wall paper removers is put out by Zinser. There is also a tool called a paper tiger that you use to gently score the paper so that the spray on remover better penetrates the paper. You let it set a while, then scrape it off with a scraper. You may also use hot water in a spray bottle instead of the chemical. Good Luck

Home Depot or any wallpaper store sells what's called a Paper Tiger. It will put small holes in the wallpaper. You then wet down with warm water, let it sit for a while to soak in. Repeat if necessary and the wallpaper should peel off. If not, get a good scraper to help remove. The more you wet the wallpaper, the better it comes off.

I put liquid fabric softener in a Windex bottle. That way it is easier to spray out than an ordinary spray bottle. Let the wall paper soak for a minute or so and then just peel it right off. If you get a good chunk at a time, it works really good. After that, wash you walls with TSP which prepares your walls for a paint job. I did a whole room with probably about half of a jug of fabric softener and I'm not talking just borders, I'm talking the whole wall! It's cheap, easy and it makes your room smell good. Until you paint of course! lol

Go to your nearest hardware store and buy the tool for making small holes in the wallpaper. Run it all across the wallpaper. Once it is full of those little holes, using a sponge, wet it down (really wet it...) with windshield washer fluid (the blue one). You can then easily scrape off the paper. If it doesn't work, your only other option is to rent or buy a steamer machine to remove wallpaper. Have fun....

I am in the same boat as you. Our paper has been up about 25 we think. I like the responses very helpful. I am going to try the fabric softener. Thanks for the question OP.
