Yep, she's found "the discovery zone" - it's totally normal! Just tell her to do "that " in her bedroom, so she doesn't embarrass you in front of guests and wait it out. She will hopefully quickly grasp that it's a private thing to do.

I worked in a Kindergarten class for 3 years and was amazed at the girls who would "relieve themselves" by humping stuffed animals and pillows during nap time! Most stopped after a couple of weeks and I often wondered if they weren't stressed by starting Kindergarten.

My daughter does a similiar thing. Since her arms could reach her area, she keeps her hands on it just like a little boy would. I realize it is more common that I thought. You would think they would outgrow it but not any time soon it seems. I do not believe you can make her stop. Because I have tried the distracting thing too. Just try to nicely say no no but you will just have to let her stop on her own. Hopefully sooner than later.

Yes it is normal for a child male and female to explore these things with their body. As long as shes doing it in her own personal space I would not worrie. Unless she is causing harm to herself, or is displaying more signs which might be linked to possible abuse. Either way I would note this with her doctor so there not questions if she does get irritated down there and need additional help outside the home.

I don't think that a child discovering their private areas is abnormal at all. I do however think that you should discuss this with her pediatrician. Both of my daughters have "discovered" themselves, but neither one of them "relieve" themselves. Try not to make her feel ashamed of it, but do tell her that that is something that she needs to do in private, and please see the dr. about it. Not just for her, but for you. Not only will it decrease your stress over it, but it will inform the dr just in case other problems arise. Example... UTI, irritation, things of that nature. Good luck to you!!

I am sure that it is normal, but it is an uncomfortable scene, if you are concerned I think that you should see your GP

Tell her if she must do it she MUST do it in PRIVATE. Do not make her feel ashamed or bad about enjoying her body.
