The unclean animals were considered to be unclean because of diseases that they carried. If you see a pig; it eats the slop of the earth. Also a lobster carries diseases because it's at the bottom of the ocean floor where it eats all the junk. Here's more information in these sites why people should't eat these unclean creatures:

God pronounced some animals to be unclean. Leviticus describes those that are "clean" and those that re "unclean." The unclean animals are scavengers, their purpose was to serve as the clean-up crew for the earth. Pigs will eat anything that they can. The pigs have a small duct that runs down their legs and drains out near their feet; if these ducts would be closed, then the pig would die in about 24 hours from poisoning itself.
God called the pigs unclean and said that we should not eat them, so I don't.

There is a translation problem. The one English word, abomination, is used to translate a couple of Hebrew words. One has the idea of being unclean--some of the animals that are unclean are because of their scavenger nature and their diet. Homosexual acts as abominations come from another word dealing with social customs that are (trigger warning, you may be offended) disgusting.

In the time of Solomon the Hebrews had temples to YHVH and other temples to Shekinah or Asherah, which were generally in the open, on hills, used large fires, feasting with shellfish, pork, varieties of sex that would not produce children, etc. In order to give the Hebrews a 'political makover' and change who they thought themselves to be so that they might survive in the competitions for resources that the other nations of the area were engaging in, Solomon tried to destroy all worship of any other Hebrew Deities. This meant outlawing everything connected with their worship, and backdating the laws so that they seemed to be inherited from a warlike group that were the forefathers of the Hebrew nation of the time.

That of course is an expired code.
We as Christians can eat pork.
For health reasons, there was several things God's people at that time period could not eat.

Most likey because as omnivores, hogs will eat carrion, including human corpses. Dogs are despised in that era for the same reason.

Because Christians throughout history have banned/frowned upon basically everything. This allows Christians to say the bible is against whatever they want. For instance in Leviticus 20 it speaks out against having sex with all kinds of obscure people and animals, but clearly advocates polygamy. Polygamy is now frowned upon.
So my answer is everything is an abomination at some point in the bible.
