There are medications that can help. The college health center probably also has a mental health clinic attached to it. You can usually see a therapist free of charge.
When a panic attack occurs, focus on your breathing. Breathe slowly, and deeply. Say soothing things to yourself. (difficult in the middle of class, but you can at least think soothing thoughts.)

You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. My husband has this problem. He takes a daily medication and he has one for if he starts to have an attack. He went through 5 different medications and 3 doctors before he and the doctor found one that worked for him. He has learned to tell when he is going to have an attack and he now takes a reduced medication before he goes into a full blown attack. Good Luck! My heart goes out to you I know that you are suffering.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Well, that used to happen to me in college. I went to a doctor, explained the problem and got some help. Deep breaths can help during the attack, too.

During the event of your attack try to breathe slowly and take deep breaths. this can help a lot but after the attack try to think what made you so stressed. go to your college's health room and talk to them. they can write you an excuse note so you can take a day or 2 to relax. i hope that you discover an answer to help you.

My sister had these problems a lot before. What you should try to do is calm yourself and take deep breaths, try not to think of anything bad. Since these things can come at unexpected times, don't try to worry about that. If it gets worse and you think you need a doctors help, you could see one and get anxiety medicine to take which calms you down.

Do you take anti-depressants? And are you depressed? I don't know if you are or not. But my roomie had a panic attack and hes on meds, and so am i lol, I think you need to go to your college mental health services and tell them what happened. I know my college has special services in that area.

Go and talk to a Doctor about the what is going on. Stress in your life may bring on these events or it may be something more serous.
It is very important that you do this because you may find out later that what you thought was happening was actually something else.
