that is a personal decision. I let my brother in law take my kids for walks. I let my dad take them for walks to the park, but are all within 1 mile of home. It really depends on how far you are planning on letting them go and also, the most important question is do you trust her with your kids life? I am sure your motherly instinct will give you your final answer. But If you totally trust her, and its not to far, then I would say sure.

I don't think I'd let them drive. It's distracting to have a kid in the car, and a 16-year-old doesn't have much experience.
But as for letting the girls take your 4-year-old to a restaurant or a mall, I think that would be OK. Do you think they're responsible? Do you trust them?
I leave my 3-year-old and my 1-year-old with a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old babysitter all the time. They come highly recommended, and they both took the Red Cross babysitting course. They know my kids well, and they do a great job.
When *I* was a kid, I took my three younger brothers with me everywhere. When I was 16, the youngest was 5 and the oldest was 13, and my mother wouldn't have thought twice about having me take them to a shop or a playground or just about anywhere.
Trust your gut, and carry a cel phone. :)

If it was me, NO. If the 16 year old is your own daughter and you taught her how to care for the child, then maybe. But I would never let a 4 yr old go to the mall or anywhere else with teens.
Too many things can happen and do all the time. What if the teens meet up with some friends and forget about her or what if they take off somewhere else to a party or to someones home that you don't know. I know it is easier to free up your time by letting them take her awhile but this is asking for trouble.
There are molesters waiting for a chance to grab a 4 yrs old girl or boy. They could be one of the teens friends, at the home they take her too, at the mall or anywhere really.
Children that age can even get lost rather easily. The mall is the worst place. Kids like to play and they like to hide, those two add up to disaster at stores. They hide under racks of clothes and are quiet even if you call them it is like hide and seek. What would these teens do? Someone could grab her from teens nowing that they can do nothing. They are not adults and they can not protect her.
If you want some time off get an older responsible woman to care for your child. Take her to her home or to a daycare that you have checkout.
She is small and needs your protection and your responsible choices. Put her first before your own needs.

It depends. Are they responsible. I am a young mother myself and my daughter is 7 now. You had to watch her constanly or she would just go. At the mall there a many distractions for 16 year olds. How about a park or yes to D.Q. But all 16 year olds are different.

Thats not something I can give you a straight answer to. It depends what type of girls they are. If you can`t answer that then the answer is definately no. Some 16 year olds are completely irresponsible and some are more responsible than a thirty year old, so I`m not really sure whether I should say yes or no to this one.

I have a 6yr old girl, a 12yr old girl and a 13 yr old stepdaughter... I wouldnt let anyof them go to a mall by themselves or with each other! Especially not with a friend of the teenager! Thats when they pay NO attention to anything but themselves~!

No I wouldn't. A sixteen year old doesn't have very much driving experience or life experience...I just would worry the whole time they were out.
