You know you are right and you probably didn't need this board to tell you that. Both parents need to set an example for their kids. Even if all the kids are girls, they need a role model of a good man as a father, so they recognize them. Hopefully the answers you get here will help you get this off your chest and not start another argument.
Does your fiancee usually "lecture" you? That's not setting a good example for your children either. Adults discuss stuff, they don't lecture each other. When you are both calm, you should talk to him about you both being role models, and also about how you talk to each other about things.
Good luck.

You are 100% correct on this one. A huge part of being a parent is setting a good example for your children, for you both shape their personalities/actions in the future. If your fiance is too immature to realize that, then why did he have children in the first place? Good Luck to you, but that is pretty ignorant and I'll say a prayer for you.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. It is important that both parents set a good example, and also show a united front. Unfortunately, I think many mothers find themselves not only setting an example for their children, but also for the father. It just does not seem to come naturally to many men. My husband tries, but I find I usually have to spell things out for him when it comes to the kids. It drove me crazy until I started talking to other moms and heard similiar stories. Well, I have to admit, it still drives me crazy- but at least I don't feel alone. Good luck!

you are right. If he wants you to set a good example for the kids then he must do the same. But I bet this was said in the middle of a heated argument. He will not like it if you show him these answers. Just let it go. And yes I believe that if he is going to preach then he needs to show the same example.

Oh boy you sure got a great one there. So he's saying fathers don't have to set examples just the mothers. Okay get the memo out to all the other fathers not to worry anymore us moms will be doing that.

Wow.. i cant believe he said that. but he is a male, so there ya go.. one of the most important things of being a parent is setting good examples for your children, and most kids look up to their father so much and want to do everything they do... tell him that he needs to just admit he is wrong because I doubt he finds ANYONE that woul take his side on this one... your 100% right.. that was the most ignorant thing ive ever heard!!!!!

men think the world revolves around them and they are perfect. yeh that is BS if all parents set good examples the society would be better. the parents are the ones that mould the kids they are to blame if they turn out bad. not the government and not the schools. they need to be raised propperly at home lots of love and yes set by good examples. we need to be 100% involved with every part of thier lives and school to make sure they dont get strayed. males i know dont think they need to change. my sons father whom we arnt together says when your older bring me back the young skinny sexy blondes thats terrible thats setting bad example

You are right. If his the father and his setting a good example and you're the mother then you're setting a good example too.

you couldn't get any more right. A mother and father BOTH need to set good examples for their children, not just one parent. Maybe he needs to go to Parenting Classes and relearn.
