Awwww the poor little thing!!! Just keep lavishing her with lots of love and extra attention. Let her sit with you on the porch or in the house and talk to her a lot -- let her know you are sad too and, that the two of you will support each other and heal together.

Ignatia is a homeopathic remedy for grief. A single dose of 30C should help the dog resolve her loss.

You can also treat the dog with Bach flower essences which you can find at a health foods store. The essence Walnut is the one for adjustment to new circumstances in the dog's life. If the store doesn't carry the full line they will most likely have Rescue Remedy which can help the dog too. You just have to shake the bottle well and put some on the dog's fur between its ears or you can put four to six drops in her water bowl. You can treat the dog for a week to ten days or even longer if you want. Best to do it three or four times a day for a week or so if you can. It cannot hurt her in any way and will help with her emotional healing over her loss. It can help you too. I am sorry about the loss of your mother.

I would do both.

I'd give her time and plenty of love and reassurance. Pets mourn the loss of an owner or another pet in their own way. . .they may not understand the details, but they do know that something is very wrong in their lives.

She needs time to adjust to her new situation. A few special treats with her food (a little scoop of chicken broth or a nibble of cheese) may tempt her to eat more. And giving her a little extra attention can help ease her over the tough times.

I'm sorry for your losses. . .may God comfort both of you.

I am sorry about your loss. My mom went through this when my grandmother died and left a Scottie. You might try putting some things that have your moms scent on them around her so she will feel that your mom is still around. My mother tried everything under the sun with Cindy for 3 months and nothing worked. The vet said the dog was "literally dying of a broken heart" and the only thing left to do was put her down so my mom did.

take her on a nice brisk walk. That should make her hungry enough to eat. Offer her some items from your mothers home that has her scent on it (a shirt, scarf, blanket). Throw a few extra treats her way. And make sure that you give lots of love, exspecially when she is crying. Sorry about losing your mother, hope that the 2 of you can comfort each other in such a trying time.

Sorry to hear about your moms passing best wishes getting through this hard time .
But as far as the dog I dont know if you have the time or the money but maybe buy a puppy for it to play with to keep her at least alert ,cause puppies always want to play and maybe the dog u have now will feel like it has a reason to live

It is sad to see a dog mourn the death of someone he/she loved so much and dogs do love even though people do not realize it.. They even mourn when another dog or cat dies in their family. It is difficult for them but when I did(only once did I have to do this) was to continually sit down with the dog by my side and pet it over and over again and talk to it as though it understood every word you said. AND people tell me that a dog is not smart.. they have no feelings

I'm sorry about ur mom.
When mine passed away, she had 3 house dogs.
It took them about a month to get over moms passing.
We gave them alot of TLC. As for eating, we had to boil them chicken & mix w/rice for a few weeks. Then they started eating their regular food again.
