As long as he can support the child and isn't abusive and loves the baby, I think he SHOULD have custody.

It's about what's best for the child. If the dad can take care of the baby, then that might be for the best. Or maybe they should both take a step back and think about letting someone else adopt the child. I've already had my kids, I'm not coming at this from wanting anyone elses. I just want the baby to have the best life that it can, and dads can raise kids. My fiancee raised all 3 of his.

She sounds like she is on a roller coaster of making bad decisions, and yes if the father can provide for the children and is a good dad, he should have the children, but u know how the courts are they always give the kids to the mom, even if they can't take care of the kids.

Been through a similiar thing too. A child needs to be taken care of and if the dad is the best one to do it, then yes he should. Unfortunately a judge will always leave the child with the mom unless there are extreme signs of abuse. Alot of dads miss out because of this but that is just the society we live in.

Not at all. The kids have to come first and its not about dad or mom, its about who`s going to be a better parent. Parents play a major role in who a child becomes and their mom not having a job and having to be supported by their grandmother isn`t a good example. I don`t know how she is with the kids, but it sounds like she`s not being responsible enough.

It is never wrong for a parent to want the best for there kid. No matter if it is the mom or dad. It would take alot of proof that she is an "unfit" mother to get custody. But if he can prove that she is "unfit" then he desirves to have that baby. But it is not an easy task.

Sometimes it could be in the best interest of the child for the father to have custody. I dont think there is anything wrong with it. Some fathers can be more nuturing then some mothers.

If the dad is the better parent, then of course he should have custody. If the mom is competent enough they can share or she can have visitation.

You have to look at what's best for the baby regardless of the gender of the parent.

It all depends on the situation, but fathers are more than welcome to try to get full custody the courts will look into both sides and see what is best for the child. Not all moms should have full custody but the courts will decide.

i think it depends on what the best decision is for the child(ren) in question. My boyfriend was raised by a single father (his mom took off when he was about a year old) and he is no different than anyone I know who was raised by a mother and not a father or even both parents.
it all depends on the specific situation and the well-being of the child.
