# Set realistic goals in light of the depression and assume a reasonable amount of responsibility.
# Break large tasks into small ones, set some priorities, and do what you can as you can.
# Try to be with other people and to confide in someone; it is usually better than being alone and secretive.
# Participate in activities that may make you feel better.
# Mild exercise, going to a movie, a ballgame, or participating in religious, social, or other activities may help.
# Expect your mood to improve gradually, not immediately. Feeling better takes time.
# It is advisable to postpone important decisions until the depression has lifted. Before deciding to make a significant transition - change jobs, get married or divorced - discuss it with others who know you well and have a more objective view of your situation.
# People rarely "snap out of" a depression. But they can feel a little better day-by-day.
# Remember, positive thinking will replace the negative thinking that is part of the depression and will disappear as your depression responds to treatment.

1. talk to a trusted friend
2. talk to your doctor about treatment
3. ask her/him for a referral to a mental health professional such as a therapist or professional counselor.
4. do NOT isolate.
5. engage in physical activity such as exercise.
Depression might be described as a state of seeing the world through "tunnel vision". It might also progress if left untreated or unattended. It is most important to seek help as soon as possible. There are a number of medications that are used to treat the symptoms of depression.....but they alone are not usually enough. Counseling/therapy might also be needed. Depression does not need to be permanent....there is a way out. Ask for help.

it's the dpression talking when you say no one wants me around.
i'm sure you feel that way, but SOMEONE wants you around and would be devastated if you weren't. if you're thinking about or entertaining thoughts about suicide, memorize this statement:
SUICIDE TO A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO A TEMPORARY PROBLEM.
i urge you to see a psychiatrist to express your emotions and emotional state of mind. s/he can listen and formulate a proper diagnois re: your condition. medication is available to lift you out of this misery.
i speak from experience. depression is a hideous illness that strips you of your self-esteem; plundering you into a black abyss where there doesn't appear to be any way to crawl out of. but. there is help available.
please see a psychiatrist.
you will be in my thoughts and prayers, friend.

get urself involved in activities. watch tv. do what u enjoy most. don't talk to people who hurt you or be around things that depress you. life is too short to frown. so be happy. find happiness in everything you see or do. Just can't live that negative way...make way for the positive day! =]

You can help yourself by changing your diet to a healthy one, exercising, getting proper sleep, and taking some botanical nutritional products that can ultimately repair damaged cells and regenerate new cells that are better than the old ones; also, try to avoid pharmaceuticals if you can.
