of course they are different levels bellow 500 is a misdemeanor and may get you probation if you have no record depending on the judge about 500 is a felony and is definite jail time
But yes you can go to jail for stealing a lipstick

It depends on how much you take and if you pay back restitution before you go back to court for sentencing. You could get jail time depends on the amount that was stolen. Or you can get a year with all suspended with say 3 years probation and a year to pay back the amount that was stolen.

no they cannot ,so i urge yo to down to the local wal mart and just take what ever you want . let the arresting officer no that stealing is not illegal and demand an apology from him . failure to give one sue him for slandering your good name calling you a theif.
