If you really need to ask this question, perhaps I should tell you what a thief is not:
Our whole big extended family who works very hard for a living and would not take one thing, or even one dime, that we have not earned with our own labor.

A thief by definition is One who steals, especially by stealth. Yu do not actually have to take something to steal. you can hide or embezzle or preclude the item from the owner without ever having touched it and still be a thief

Thief is when you take something that is not yours and knowing and willingly take it under false pretense. This is a felony and will be on your record and can make it hard for you to get a job, bank loans etc.
