For according to the story of the Flood, this 'god of love' drowned every man, woman, and child, as well as every animal who were not on the ark.

How does a 'god of love' justify virtually exterminating all life on the planet?

This is where the literalists can get pretty nasty. I've had them answer: "Yo! It's his universe. He can do what he likes!"
You even get folks who insist that ALL humanity was evil except for Noah & Co. All new-borns were evil? You wander what part of the brain is at work when people write these things.

The "scripturalists" are the most entertaining. For example, if you read the text suggest by "raven7night" (Genesis 8:20-21 ), the best pro-god interpretation would be that he's sort of sorry for what he did. But the point is that he DID do it!

We have no way to know such a thing happened. It is an old story told and retold untill someone wrote it down. Many stories are written but we have to use our own judgement about what is believable.

Genesis 8:20-21 explains it all.

Either Jehovah isn't truly a god of love, or he doesn't exist. And all evidence has led me to the latter option.
