Why are you snacking? Is it habit? Is it mood related? Is someone else in the house snacking at this time?

If it's just become habit, try changing it up. Brush your teeth earlier so you won't snack. Drink a water. Have a hot cup of tea or caffiene free herbal drink,or lowfat milk warmed up, maybe even warmed and possibly spiced apple juice, half an hour before this normal snack time. This may signal your brain that it's time for bed not time for food. Whatever you choose to drink, keep it very low calorie, and try low sugar if you are sensitive to sugar boosts. Try going to bed a little sooner.

If it's mood eating, then it's time to assess what the mood is, where it's coming from, and how to diffuse it. Is it the relaxed feeling after you put the kids down to bed, is it the hubby,Is it the stress of the day? Maybe a walk would help, then a low calorie drink. In the evening however a brisk walk may keep you up, so a stroll, or a putter in the garden, or a bubble bath. Just something to change up the mood, and routine.

just stop, thats all there is too it. when you walk to your kitchen at night ask yourself what is more important to you, eating a snack you don't need or losing the weight. if you want to lose more weight you wont eat the snack, its simple.
also don't confuse hunger with appetite. as long as you ate a healthy dinner you're not hungry for the snack, you just have an appetite for it ,which is your mind telling you your hungry, not your stomach.
if snacking is a habit, try chewing sugar free gum and do something with your hands like playing with cards or doing a crossword puzzle or something. a lot of times your appetite comes from boredom or habit so as long as you keep your hands and jaw moving you wont even notice it.

Good for you! Snacking before bed is a hard habit to overcome, but yes, you can break it. Try having a cup of clear tea, or just warm water. Sip it slowly. It puts something in your tummy, which is what your body is habituated to expect before you go to bed, and the tea or water is warm, filling and comforting, so it will be easy for you to get to sleep.
Good luck!

Try munching on some frozen grapes instead of snack food. 2 cups of grapes only 110 calories.

you can try snacking on something that has very little fat, like a rice cake. What I usually do is I try to sleep when I have night time urges to eat. I never get enough sleep anyway.
