I feel that I can answer this question because I am getting married. If you are looking to only spend about $20 a great idea is go to the supermarket and get a nice but cheap bottle of wine. Some wine you can find for about $10. Then go to a Wal-mart or something along those lines and by a set of cheap champagne glasses that can be found in the wedding section in the craft area for about $12. It's a great way to show you care without putting a dent in you pocketbook.

We actually received a really nice storage box. It a rectangular box with a lid and on the lid is a painting of a couple dancing at their wedding. Its really beautiful. Inside the box was a check (which you don't have to include) and a note saying that this was our wedding box. Each of us can add to it over the years and every year on our anniversary we should sit down together and go through the box, cherishing the time and memories. My husband and I both use it all the time. So far this year Ive put in a few cards and random sticky notes that my husband has left me and also the first credit card bill we fought about. Next June we'll go through it together and reminisce.

RE:
What's a thoughtful inexpensive gift to get a couple for their engagement party?
they are not registered anywhere. I want it to be unique. They already had the engagement party which i was unable to attend. Something nice not more than $20 or so.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Any chance of finding out what they already got? A nice photo frame but only if they didn't already get one.

gift certificate to a restaurant where they can have an appetizer and a drink and relax together(with all the stress ahead of them, they will need it). Really, anything would be thoughtful, just the fact that you care enough to congratulate them

Fix up a basket with a bottle of wine, cheese, fruit, and a book of romantic poetry. Include a cute checkered table cloth if you can afford it.

>A blank Pre-Nuptial Agreement form...very, very thoughtful and usually a necessity later on...as a matter fact, having a "pre-nupt" can save a marriage (or at least help keep both parties honest).<
