You actually need you passport. If you do not have a passport, you will need your drivers license and birth certificate. That is all they check. They do not check anything else they only want to know if you a legal resident of the US. There is nothing else.

Call Department of immigration and citizenship, it's on the net and find out. Everything is difficult now. I have been fighting for a week to find out why my husband from Canada and citizen since 1979 can't get Haz Mat endorsement. He had it for yrs. Then dropped it because ha took a job that didn't need it. Now they won't accep wht he has from Maine when he became citizen. He has to spend $220. to have them give him a certificate which has the same info on it. I felt like a crazy person by the time I spoke to all the people out there. Everyone has a different story and noone knows how to help. They make you spend the money. It's costing good people a lot of money, this Homeland Security thing!
