I got stung by a wasp yestererday and I put salt and water on it right away. I woke up this morning itching it like mad bc it was so itchy. Now my arm (where i got stung) is all red and swollen and super itchy. U cant see where I got stung but I've put benadry gel on it and then we ran out of it so I put Aveeno anti itch cream on it and it hasnt worked as well. What else can I do? I can't take Benadryl orally bc of the medications I'm on. What should I do?

Here are some ideas:

Take a clove of garlic, crack it open to get to the juicy part. Rub the juice directly onto the sting.

My kids pediatrician has recommended for years the benefit of keeping a bottle of Ban roll on on hand. I recently had to use it after my 7 year old got stung. It immediately stopped the throbbing pain and he quit crying. It also works for mosquito bites.

I was stung by a wasp last week - I was at home on the weekend, so had no fast access to any medicine, but was advised to immediately put lemon juice on the site of the sting. It worked for me. I was told that this is not effective for bee stings.

In many of the wetter areas of the country, a plant called jewel weed, or touch-me-not, grows. The Touch-me-not has round teeth around the edges of its leaves, small orchid like flowers, and seed pods that burst open when touched or ripened. You can make a paste out of the leaves or the stalk of this plant. The paste is an extremely effective pain reliever for bee, wasp, and hornet stings. Consult a wildflower book for more details about this plant.

Place a fresh slice of an onion directly onto the bite. Within a few minutes the swelling will go down and there will be no real pain.

Some say you can reduce the pain of a wasp sting by coating it with flour.

Wet down the spot on your skin where you got stung and then rub Bayer aspirin on the spot. It should reduce pain and inflammation.

Apply toothpaste! Works!!

Make a paste of Adolf's meat tenderizer and apply it to the sting. I've been told it draws out the venom, but whatever it does, it worked.

I used tobacco on a sting. It reduced the swelling and helped take the pain away. You can take the tobacco out of a cigarette and put it in your hand, get it wet, and then put it directly on the sting. It helps a lot.

Baking soda or steak tenderizer made into a paste with a small amount of water applied to the sting takes away the burning pain. Make the paste a little thick so it doesn't drip off.

Mix meat tenderizer with a small amount of water, to make a paste. Apply the paste to the stung area and it will ease the pain within minutes.

Unlike bee stings, which are acidic and therefore neutralised by the alkali in baking soda, a wasp sting is alkali and thus baking soda is nothing more than a placebo.

Instead, mix up a weak vinegar solution and apply that to the sting to neutralise the alkali. If there is no vinegar readily available, try rubbing a lemon slice over the sting. No, really!

Take a rhubarb leaf and rub into the sting, it instantly relieved the pain for me.
