I think anyone that would actually listen to Bush and go die in Iraq is a fool.

It's only voluntary until they say otherwise...that doesn't prevent a draft.

And as for getting in trouble... You can seek political asylum in other countries. The real trouble would be having bullets flying at you in a war that is meaningless.

No, No, No, die for the mistakes of gwb, no way!!!!!!The only way I would go is if both of his ditzy daughters went I would not call guys that go "fools" that's just wrong, but well to do people always have an easy time telling someone else's sons and daughters they have to give their childrens lives, Young men who have a lot of testosterone to spend usually haven'y lived long enough to realize what a bad deal ther war is

If there were a draft I'd proudly serve my country. You have to think about what circumstances would cause a draft. The government would only enforce a draft if our troops were outnumbered and desperately needed the help. Despite your political beliefs you should be willing to help your own country men. See for soldiers who go to war, they don't fight for Bush or the Iraqis. They fight for each other and for all of us back home. Serving your country isn't about politics its about patriotism.

I actually hope there is a draft so all of you who said no will either get the hell out of the country or die on the front lines.

To answer your initial question: Yes, I would go.

I seriously doubt you have ever read or understand what is involved in signing the contract to join the military which would make you the property of the United States government. I also doubt you would ever find a reason to fight for this country or any other.

If those things are true, then you should not waste your time criticizing the choices of those who have or had joined the military service whose job, in part, is to protect the lives of the citizens of this country and the rights this country hold in high regard such as the freedom to say almost anything you want. Instead waste your time promoting fine art, planting trees, saving animals, promoting gay rights, whatever you want to- so long as you are an American citizen, your right to do that has been and is still being paid for you in blood by those who never met or even cared about you but felt you should have that choice whether you feel you deserve it or not.

Well, I'm over 40 so I probably wouldn't be drafted...but if somehow I were, no -- I would not go. Even if that meant going to jail, I would not go.

However, I have to take exception to the way you've characterized our troops as "fools." For the most part these are just people who volunteered to serve their country -- and they go where they're told to go, that's the job they signed up for. Some of them agree with Bush, some of them don't (just like the regular population), but not many of them are fools. I have nothing but the greatest respect for the enlisted personnel in our armed forces, and I want them all to come home safe and in one piece. Now the officers, especially the commanding generals...that's another story :)

I don't think Iraq is a war but more of a political maneuver that has just dragged on too long. We were never attacked by Iraq, and everything that was purported by the Bush administration regarding Iraq and the wmd's was later reported to be false. It has to be in the annals of history one of the most obvious of all Presidential debacles.

How unpatriotic of you, you think every soldier fighting in Iraq is waisting their time? Just go see what their doing over their, bet you you would piss in your pants if you touchewd a gun. I well fight if I am called to serve, thats your number duty to serve the country if you don't than you dont deserve to be a citizen of this great nation. Here's some of the things we accomplished in Iraq:

1. We got rid of a dictator that was posing as a threat to Mid-East stability.

2. We stopped a madman from killing more innocent people.

3. Captured key al-qaidea leaders their

4. Showed the world that us well not support injustice anywhere

5. Gave hope for Iraqi's

6. Heled stabilze econmy and alow democratic freedom to resume

7. SHOWED EVERY ************* BASTARD TERRORIST THAT WE MEAN BUSSINESS.

SHOW SOME REWSCEPT AND THANK THOSE SERVING FOR OUR COUNTRY, THEIR DOING THIS TO PROTECT THE LIFE'S OF INOOCENT PEOPLE AND TOO DEFEND FREEDOM.

SO THINK EBFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING YOU LOSER!

If my country drafted me to go and fight in Iraq, or any other place in the world then I would be man enough to go and fight for my country, even if I didn't think it is right to go and fight. I live in this country and I am a citizen of this country and that is part of my duty of being an American if called to duty then I must go and fight.
If it is not right then God will cast his punishment upon those who were not right to send us off to fight this war, but my name will be clear in the book of life of this harm that I may have been part of, but God will know I was not the one making the calls.
I feel if you are afraid to go fight because you think it is not right then you should be deported to other country and never be able to come back to the land of the USA.
We have to do many things in life even if we don't want to but it has to be done even if we don't believe or think it is right.

A quote from my Son who went into the Army thru the ROTC program. He graudated from college and the ROTC one month a part. He was in the 82nd Air Born division. He was in the Army for six years and got out as a Captain.
I asked him "what he would do if he was recalled back and had to go to Iraq now with having a wonderful wife and two beautiful little girls." I will never forget his words.
"MOM, my wife and I have also talked about what you just asked me. This is my answer. I was in the Army for six years. I believe in American. I believe in our flag. I believe in our country, and trust me the guys that are in Iraq right now believe the same as I do. Maybe not all of them but I 'd bet 99 percent of them feel the same as I do. It is terrible over there, but they are there for a good reason, a reason that most americans do not understand or even try to understand and yes, I would go if they called me back. What would all Amecians do if it wasn't for the Guys in the service to serve our country. Our children would not be safe. War is a lot different today so any man that goes in the Service is a hero in my eyes. Yes I would go to be at their side and fight along with them. We need to stick together as Amecicans and be proud of your country." End of his quote.
Today he is a police officer of the best kind. You would be honored to have him work in your city. Love yourself and all others and love God.
Sincerely, J (:

No, but I am 60 and do not have to make that decision, however during Vietnam when faced with the draft and against the war I would have not gone, I do not believe anyone should have to go fight in a war, especially this one that was started based on a lie.

I'm not no fool. But if I were drafted, yes I would go! It's a direct order and I'd prefer to fight for our country then to spend the rest of my days in jail!
