* The most frequently consumed vegetable is iceberg lettuce which is 97 percent water and practically devoid of nutrients.
* The second most frequently consumed produce is tomatoes, which are quite rich in nutrients.
* The third most consumed vegetable is French-fried potatoes. The nutritional value of the potatoes is compromised by the fat calories. For extra fiber and nutrients, potatoes should be served with the skin left on.

Just a guess, but I'd say potato. Rice is a cereal, so it wouldn't count as a vegetable, and they are likely the two most often consumed foods in the US.
