All foods get broken down into three basic building blocks: glucose (sugar), amino acids (protein), and fatty acids (fats/lipids). When there is excess, the body stores it in fat cells. You could eat lots of sugar and the body would convert the excess into fat for storage. So, basically, all foods can be broken down and then placed in fat storage in the body... except for things we eat that we do not digest. We do not digest fiber, it passes right through us. Fiber is plant material which we cannot digest, it is in the skin of fruits, in vegetables, and in whole grains (oats, bran, barley), nuts, beans, and legumes. Things we drink, like tea (with no sugar) do not have any calories and so they do not produce fat in the body.
