Oatmeal is an ingredient in various dog foods...it's the number one ingredient in Solid Gold Holistique Blendz (a good food for older or less active dogs...particularly those with food sensitivities). If you're talking about just feeding it oatmeal, then no...they need more of a balanced diet.

Oatmeal is fine for dogs my dog gets oatmeal everyday with her meds in it vet said it was actualy good for her liver. I would recommend calling your local vet and asking them.

When my dog was depressed I fed her cooked Oatmeal, Because she wouldn't eat.Then slowly added dog food. In a few days she was eating again. I think it calmed her stomach. NO SUGAR...SUGAR IS BAD FOR DOGS>
