I love my boyfriend for him - not his looks, but lately, his teeth have been bothering me. They are perfectly straight, but i doesn't look like hes spent a lot of time brushing. He rarely has bad breath, but his teeth still look grimy and gunky. We recently spent our first weekend together in Santa Barbra and i didnt see him brush once! How can i fix this without hurting his feelings!

-- Concerned!

haha i had the same problem.. I mentioned to him that I was going to the dentist and then casually was like.. "whens the last time you went.. " and got into the whole teeth thing but if your with him again for days and he doesnt brush.. just ask him when your brushing, "do you want me to move over so you can brush at the sink too?" or something like that...

I believe you just have to be straight up with him. Say I love you and have something to discuss with you. Let him know you noticed he has not brushed and his teeth are so beautiful you are concerned. Ask him when he was to the dentist last, and make and appointment, you can even go together and get your teeth cleaned. His unbrushed plaque does carry a health risk for you. His decay can become yours. Good Luck!

P.S. if he is terrified of the dentist, work out a wager with him to entice him to go. I am sure you can use your imagination!

Poor oral health can lead to problems
If you don’t take care of your teeth and gums, your poor oral hygiene can actually lead to other health problems, including:

Oral and facial pain. According to the Office of the Surgeon General, this pain may be largely due to infections of the gums that support the teeth and can lead to tooth loss. Gingivitis, an early stage of gum disease, and advanced gum disease affect more than 75 percent of the U.S. population.

Problems with the heart and other major organs. Mouth infections can affect major organs. For example, the heart and heart valves can become inflamed by bacterial endocarditis, a condition that affects people with heart disease or anyone with damaged heart tissue.

Oral cancer. Poor oral care can contribute to oral cancer, which now takes more lives annually than cervical or skin cancer.

Digestion problems. Digestion begins with physical and chemical processes in the mouth, and problems here can lead to intestinal failure, irritable bowel syndrome and other digestion disorders.

tell him he could be doing more damage than just some bad breath

I would just tell him that you are concerned about his habits. When he asks which habit you are referring to then tell him he needs to brush his teeth more as you don't want to see him suffer with the side effects of poor oral hygiene

Tell him gum disease is communicable (which it is) and you won't kiss him unless he startst taking better care of his teeth. Oh. You wanted a NICE way to tell him? Let this be the first of many fights you will have. If you can't survive this one, just give up and move on.

You have to confront him and let him know that good oral hygiene is important to you. If he doesn't take care of his teeth, his breath will start to become foul and I don't know about you, but that is a real turn off for me. There's no excuse for not taking care of yourself and your teeth...it's just laziness!

just be honest. let her know you really care about him, but you're worried that you haven't seen him brush his teeth. tell him that you don't want his teeth to rot or have cavitities or such things. encourage him to go to the dentist to better explain how important hygiene is.

When he's sleeping Knock his damn teeth out with a hammer
It will save from going to the dentist.

TELL HIM THE TRUTH or become a dentist! If you care about him you won't let him continue to be an embarrassment because of his terrible oral hygiene problem.

Ask him how often he brushes his teeth. Be straight and in probability he will be straight with you too.
